I have been travelling Ukraine now for three months with a fiend from Lonely Planet. I have found Ukraine to be very safe.. More safe then New York. The people overall are very frinedly and Ukraine is truely the place to visit. Of course you need to apply caution as you would anywhere else. It depends on how you approach people. Try and not listen to much of the scare mongering. Some of this is to encourage you to use the services of particular operators... "You will be safe with us but not with them ...")

Just listen and enjoy the culture.

I highly recommed that you visit Kolomyia, Poltava and other smaller based regions.

Oh if you can not speak Russian do not worry as their are quite a few that can speak English and German. They learn English at school and have been doing so know for 10 years. What is fascinating is the rate of change... Most for the better. This is a great country and I recommend it to anyone.

Sadly this paost like many others will be deleted soon.... :)) This site has a reputation for this.

: Hello, I am a Belgian student and I want to go to Ukraine. I always travel with my backpack, but I have heard that Ukraine is a dangerous country for that. Is that true or not? Or where can I find reliable information about it?
: thanks
