: I have done more than "some" checking. As I stated in an earlier post - the *MAXIMUM* duration for a business visa is 3 years. However, it is at the discretion of the issuing authority if they wish to issue the visa for the maximum duration - or something less than that.
: Obviously, in your case - they chose to issue the multiple-entry visa for only one year. That is common practice unless the applicant supplies substantial information as to why a longer-term visa is appropriate. Why do I know all this? Well - I am glad you asked. Because I was initially issued a multiple-entry business visa for only one year - and I contacted the appropriate Embassy/Consulate staff and was re-issued the business visa good for a 3-year term.

: : I think all you guys need to do some checking. I have a multiple entry visa (Вагаторазова)I assume that is what this means. But anyway my visa is not for six months it is for a year. This is not a guess, my visa is in front of me issued by the embassy in Washington.
Dan is correct about the business visa. It can be issued from six months to three years. In my case, I had a business invitation letter(written on June 5, 2002) from a Ukranian company in Odessa. The Ukranian Consulate in New York only issued me a business visa for six months, from june 11-December 2002, with only one entry into the Ukraine.
