Just got back from trip. Hotel Lybid in Kyiv has remodeled rooms that are very nice for $94. I would highly recommend staying away from Hotel Kreschatik. I don't want to go into it, but I had a miserable experience with the staff. I wouldn't stay there if they paid me to. The Lybid was very nice and the staff was great. The Hotel Kyivska is also a nice place, although around $220 for two people (too much). As for the water, most Americans don't like carbonated water, so go to a small grocery one block due west of McDonald's on Kreschatik Street. It's actually on a street that is cut off that used to run directly into Kreschatik. They have Evian 1.5 l mineral water.
