I think;
-Academic community and educational opportunity.
My wife received an excellent education there.
-A very large shopping market/bazar. I have several pair of shoes and sandles made in Poland purchased in Kharkiv.
-Nostalgia to experience ways and means of doing somethings that have changed little in the past 150 years.
The location is east of Kiev about 7 hours by express train; or 8 hours by Lux bus; or 10 hours by sleeper berth train. Population about 1.5 million. There are concerts, theater, organ performance in assumption cathedral, celebrations like 23 August independence day. The metro stations with marble architecture are better than most in the USA.
For the single man it should be easy to pre-arrange a guided tour with a beautiful very intelligent lady to see the sights, and enjoy beverages and exercise.
