I will be going to Ukraine for the first time this month. I will be in Dnepropetrovsk for a coupleo of weeks. Although I am going to work, I will have weekends and some weekdays free.
I have found over the years that when I only have a short time, I prefer to stay in one location and lear more about it rather than trying to cover as many places as possible. So I am going to stay in Dnepropetrovsk (and the immediate area).
I have read as many posts here as possible, but I have some questions:
1) I will be staying at the hotel Vostoc, anybody heard good or bad about it?
2) I will end up with 4-5 days in the city, what should be on my "must see" list?
3) I am learning enough Russian to be polite. Will there be people who only speak Ukrainian and is it worth the effort to learn the basics (hello, I don't speak...)?
4) Should I use a credit card to pay for things? For cash should I use my bank card or traveller's checks?
5) Any other tips for a first time visitor to Ukraine / Dnepropetrovsk.
Thanks
