Yes, it is a lot less hygenic here than in western countries. Sevastopol has a large indoor butcher shop, it's an amazing place for a westerner to walk around in, flies everywhere, on the meat, on the dog poo outside and then on the meat again, adds a distintive "smoky" flavor. Sometimes a piece of meat will fall to the filthy floor, no problem, bend down, brush it off, and put it back on the case, with no one the wiser. This summer, there was an accident disrupting the power supplied to one of the local sewage treatment plants, the result was for a few days raw untreated sewage just flowed into the black sea, some beaches were closed, but in general people didn't care, can you say "Heptitus Type A", this is VERY common here. We have very good water filtration in our home, and we wash all vegatables thoroughly, and don't eat ANY rare meat here, actually we eat far less meat here than in the states. Yeah, I haven't heard from Scott in a while, he was supposed to show up here, too bad, as someone :) just broke down the bricked up wall to the HUGE underground bunker near where I live, interesting place to walk around in!!! When are you coming???
