I have home in Village of Bystiv 85 KM West of LVIV.
The Village just got Gas Turned on this in Novmeber. I payed last summer $210 for a line run to Poperty then then another $60 for labor to hand dig line. So I have Pipe 3M from House it will still cost me another $500 to Hook up that just for Gas Company & 2 Short lines run to House. Another $300 for Gas Boiler.
So Figure I need to drop another $800 in just don't want to Invest it if there will not be Gas. Oh yea I still need to pay $40 for a Plan.
I had choice this winter & bought a load of wood instead I could have paid to get it all hooked up & waited weeks zaftra zaftra........to get hooked up
When I renovated Home replaced Floors with Concrete layed Hot Water Tubing in Floors then Tiled.
Heated Floors are the Best Heat!!!
This winter I used Soviet Boiler I had Installed last summer I use a Jacuzzi Pump to Circulate Hot Water (Anti Freeze)with Wood it worked great but a Job to feed it every Hour. & Haul wood in.
at -30 I was able to get the house upto 75 Degrees. (Oh Yea I imported R-38 Fiberglas Insulation from USA for roof)
I want the Automatic comfort of Gas but wonder if Putin will Turn the Valve OFF. Hell in USA / Oregon at least you want gas Just call Gas Company they run lines & Put Meter in Free of Charge.
I am looking at setting up a Duel Fuel Diesel or Mazzot (Used Oil) Boiler outside.Also read somewhere about a thermal Mound outside. It like an Giant Peachka that hold heat in it would use 12 tons of sand & piping water is pumped thru pipe & circulated to house & large fire box the sand hold heat for days burn it a few hours very hot it can heat a home up to 3 days. It interest me. I researched Outdoor Boilers in USA they are not that great but above is sound Idea I thinks
I know I can get Diesel if Gas is shut Off. Ukraine People say Ukraine has all kind of Gas but it is in the Ground.
So I am torn at Moment to look at Aditioanl Back ups or Get Gas & just keep Wood / Coal Boiler as Back up.
I also Kept my Peachka too. so as long as I have something to burn will be good. But want to automatic it all I was afraid to leave house overnight because it would take so much time to get it warm again.
Will Ukraine have Gas Next Winter Or Not? How much will it cost?
I thoguht it was all settled & locked in till 2010 then read some more on it today
