It seems that there are two ways for Ukrainian citizens to apply for a visa for The Netherlands (or other Schengen countries).
1. If you have a friend or you have family in The Netherlands, he/they can send you an invitation letter with which you go to the Dutch embassy in Kiev and apply for a visa. In most cases this is done, when your friend or family pays your trip and guarantees that costs of living and insurances are payed by him/them for your stay in The Netherlands.
2. You come for a holiday or long weekend to The Netherlands and you don't have any relatives or friends in The Netherlands. You go to the embassy of The Netherlands in Kiev and apply for a visa. When you arrive in The Netherlands, customs will ask you how you will provide for costs of living in The Netherlands and you will have to prove you can pay costs for Hotel, food etc.
Yesterday a friend of mine told me that the fees for the visa a different. In case number 1, one has to pay about US$ 29. In case number 2, one has to pay US$ 100 or more.
Is there someone who can tell me more about this?
Many thanks and regards,
