kolo nas #5
on sunday cctober 19th the fifth “kolo nas” (‘round us) yara’s new poetry, music and art series, took place at the ra gallery
in kyiv. this time we presented the book series “another format” published by lilea nb, a wonderful little publishing house
in ivano-frankivsk. “another format” is a book series of interviews by taras prokhasko with the leading new writers and
thinkers of ukraine. so far four books have been published. the first was an interview with oleh lysheha, the poet who
wrote "swan." 
the others include interviews with writers oksana zabuzhko, yuriy andrukhovych and yuriy izdryk. in production
are book interviews with borys gudziak, who heads the ukrainian catholic university and is a breath of fresh air in the
spiritual life of ukraine, and political writer mykola riabchuk. each book has the same lay-out: small, square shaped with
about 50 pages. although taras prokhasko is always the interviewer, the style of each interview is very different and is
reflective of the personality of the interviewee. taras prokhasko, oleh lysheha and published vasyl ivanochko were present
at our "kolo nas #5" in kyiv. after brief introductions they all spoke about the series and their experiences with the
project. the conversations continued informally at the reception that followed. it was great to see all our kyiv friends.
