Koliada with Nina and Tonia Matvienko

Shumka Dancers Gala
November 17, Saturday 6:30 PM
Jubilee Auditorium, Edmonton
tickets: (780) 455-9559 or tickets@shumka.com

Sent outside to look for the first star on Christmas Eve, a girl wonders, “when was the first star ever?” She hears the ancient Koliada winter song, “Before the World Began” and witnesses the creation of the cosmos. When she runs in to tell her busy mom, she’s told to invite everyone to dinner. Just as they do in the Carpathians, she invites the storms, wolves, bears and sorcerers. They come down to dance with her.
